Artistas de Loisiada

ART LOISAIDA Foundation, I aka Los Artistas de Loisaida is a multicultural group of painters, photographers, printmakers and sculptors, many of who create work in or inspired by New York's community gardens. The group presents in conjunction with The Howl ! Festival and Theater for the New City "The WILDLIFE of the Lower East Side" HOWLS ON! This show celebrates the "WILDLIFE,(both flora and fauna including our show icon, Le Raton Citi) to be found in the environs of the City's Lower East Side and the Howl! Festival. "Wildlife" can be defined as both the flora and fauna to be found in the neighborhood, as well as the vital eclectic life style that many of the residents have found here. The exhibition offers a visual statement that spans the gamut ranging from humorous to serious, playful and perhaps even "wild".

How appropriate that "WILDLIFE" whose images of landscapes, native species of plants and animals in their native habitat- be it park, tree, river or nightclub, in close-up evoke the vivid imaginations and phoenix-like creativity of New Yorkers of all walks of life should be on view at Theater for The New City as part of the Howl! Festival, a block from Tompkins Square Park, the cultural intersect for many local residents. The show opens on August 27th and runs until September 30th, Mondays through Saturdays from 2pm until gallery closing.
