Art Loisaida Exhibit Outreach: Lincoln Center-Avery Fisher hall-Cork Gallery Show November 3-15, 2005 Opening: Friday, November 5, 2005, 4- 6PM in the Cork gallery
Dear Artist: Artistas de Loisaida is mounting their 9h annual Lincoln Center show this holiday season. "Artistas" is a group of artist who live and/or work in lower east side community gardens. The shows they sponsor bring much needed attention to the artists's work and to the community gardens in which they work. If you are interested in participating in the show, please submit this application and up to 3 eight by 10 color Xeroxes of your work with the dimensions (it cannot have been shown in our previous shows) to Carolyn Ratcliffe, 608 E. 9th Street, #15, NY, NY 10009 no later than September 28th, 2005. Participating members of Artistas will jury the show on September 28, 2005. We will choose the work of 20-23 artists-the number determined by the size and variety of the work chosen for the show. We reserve the right to make the selection based on the quality of the work first, and size second. Painters, photographers, sculptors and print makers are invited to submit work. Our contract with Lincoln Center prohibits work involving installations, video or nudity. A general rule of thumb is that each artist will receive a 2' x 3' space in which to mount the work. Everyone who is accepted into the show agrees to the following:
-
Fee:$50.00 to cover the cost of publicity, cards, mounting the show and the opening.
-
A one time $50 fee for creating a web gallery on this artistasdeloisaida.org web site. This is handled by onno de jong and he can also help you set up a web site of your own. You are limited to a maax of 1000 pictures in 5 categories, and you have to save pictures as jpegs named as you wish to have them named, in a folder with the name of the category and burned onto a CD. If you already have a personal web site, we provide a link to it.
-
Help cover the gallery shifts as our contract entails that we provide sitters for the show whenever the gallery is open. This is usually one to two shifts of 4 to 6 hours depending on the number of participants. If you cannot sit for the shift, you are responsible for paying a gallery sitter $10.00 per hour to cover your shift.
-
Art Loisaida, Artistas de Loisaida, or Lincoln Center or any of the organizers will be held blameless in the unlikely event of theft, damage or other loss of your work. We provide sitters and Lincoln Center has security guards present.
-
Each artist is responsible for the delivery and pick up of their work to/from the gallery at the proscribed times. 2
-
Every artist will receive cards advertising the show
-
A hanging committee appointed by the group will make all final decisions in regard to placement and hanging.
-

No work will be accepted for the show after the submission date or without a signed form and a check or cash payment for $50.00.
