{"id":686,"date":"2020-09-21T23:57:03","date_gmt":"2020-09-21T23:57:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.artistasdeloisaida.org\/alt\/?p=686"},"modified":"2021-06-27T22:25:25","modified_gmt":"2021-06-27T22:25:25","slug":"planting-workshop-spring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.artistasdeloisaida.org\/alt\/2020\/09\/21\/planting-workshop-spring\/","title":{"rendered":"Garden Stories Workshop: Fall 2019- Spring 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"line-height:1.1\">In partnership with the New York City Council\u2019s Cultural Immigrant Initiative (Many thanks NYC Councilmember Carlina Rivera) and Citizen&#8217;s Committee of New York City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:1.1\">Art Loisiada Foundation &amp;&nbsp; Campos Community Garden produce Garden Stories Workshops for Childrens Workshop School and A Dia De Los Muertos event in Campos Community Garden. There are four workshops in the garden in each fall and spring semester, culminating in a&nbsp; pizza class or harvest feast. Because of COVID-19&nbsp; Pause, we had to videotape the spring module as schools and community gardens were closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Garden Stories Workshop - Campos Garden\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bDuLFeqm8-o?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:1.1\">The&nbsp; Fall workshops were taught by Adrian Van Der Nes, Gary Meyers, Carolyn Ratcliffe &amp; Gladys Feliciano. The spring gardening workshops were taught by master gardener, Christopher Batenhorst and Gladys Feliciano. The first focusing on soil, compost and insects while the 2nd workshop focused on planting vegetable seeds and seedlings in the garden for this spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Planting\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/znmKlQcytfc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:1.1\">Then a traditional Native American 3 Sisters Garden with a focus on planting Lenape Corn, squash and beans which will be harvested in the fall by the incoming 3rd grade class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"3 Sisters\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XyupIRZiKiM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; 3 day event and is culminated with a performance by Aztec Dancers who perform ritual Dance ceremonies to bless the land as harvest for the coming year.
